After 6 weeks of collecting your contributions, the Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project consultation has now closed for new contributions. The site will remain accessible as a repository of information about the Project, and the PDFs and details available on the site will remain visible and downloadable. This consultation has: <li>Gathered approximately 450 responses from the online feedback form, approximately 60 from paper copies, and approximately 25 responses by email and by post combined – totalling over 500 responses</li><li>Had over 878 visitors attend the events</li><li>Had almost 9,200 unique visitors to the website</li> Thank you again for your valuable insights. We will analyse the feedback you have given us as we develop the Project further. We will be running a further round of consultation on this Project in 2023 to gather feedback on Preliminary Environmental Information and seek your views on the proposed pipeline route. The purpose of the consultation was to consult on the proposed desalination plant at Fawley as the strategic solution for the programme and on alternative water transfer and water recycling options should the desalination plant prove undeliverable, at this location and at this time. It was also used as an awareness and education opportunity to provide the public and key stakeholders with technical information on the solution and what it means for them.Due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time, the consultation was digital-led, using the online Virtual Engage platform alongside social media, press advertisements, media interviews, briefings and webinars.The consultation identified support for a water transfer and water recycling alternative to desalination, and following our options appraisal process we have decided to take forward these alternatives. WATER TRANSFER AND WATER RECYCLINGThis section seeks your views on water transfer and water recycling as the proposed solution to the challenge of securing a resilient water supply for homes and businesses in Hampshire. Further information on the need for the Project and how we have selected water transfer and water recycling as the solution to meet the challenge can be found in Section 2 of the Consultation Brochure and Section 3 of the Scheme Development Summary.

WATER RECYCLING PLANTIn this section we&rsquo;re seeking feedback on the proposed site for the new water recycling plant and the process we went through to select it. More information can be found in Section 3 of the Consultation Brochure and Section 4 of the Scheme Development Summary.

PIPELINE CORRIDOR &amp; ROUTE DEVELOPMENTWe will need to connect the water recycling plant with Budds Farm Wastewater Treatment Works to transfer treated wastewater to the water recycling plant, and send reject water from the water recycling process back to the wastewater treatment works. More information can be found in Section 3 of the Consultation Brochure and Section 3 of the Scheme Development Summary.

This section seeks your views on the pipeline corridor sections, including the preferred corridor. Section 3 of the Consultation Brochure and Section 4 of the Scheme Development Summary set out the process we went through to develop the pipeline corridor sections and the preferred pipeline corridor.

Following this consultation, we will be looking to confirm our preferred corridor and consider further the detailed routing of the pipeline within this corridor. We will use our indicative pipeline route as a starting point but want to hear your views on factors that are important to you that may influence the pipeline route, for example, in relation to possible construction impacts.

For the construction phase of the Project, we&rsquo;re looking at using a trenched (open cut excavation) method along the majority of the pipeline route and trenchless methods such as tunnelling to cross major roads, railways and rivers. More information on the typical installation methods can be found in Section 3 of the Consultation Brochure.

ABOVE GROUND PLANT: HIGH LIFT PUMPING STATIONWe have identified that we will need a high lift pumping station to support the transfer of water from Havant Thicket Reservoir to Otterbourne Water Supply Works. Our site evaluations concluded that the best location is to site it with the new water recycling plant south of Havant. Details of our site selection process and the location of the high lift pumping station can be found in Section 3 of the Consultation Brochure.

ABOVE GROUND PLANT: PUMPING STATIONS AND BREAK PRESSURE TANKSAlong the pipeline route we will need to build above ground plant such as intermediate pumping stations and break pressure tanks. A number of ones for this above ground plant have been identified. Details of our site selection process and the potential locations of the plant can be found in Section 3 of the Consultation Brochure and Section 4 of the Scheme Development Summary.
